Bruce Bickerton [aka alucidnation] treats you to some tasty aural morsels from his library of Vinyl, CD & Digital, tonight featuring tracks by Aphex Twin, WTrem, Koushik, Saki and more.
Jóhann Jóhannsson is an Iceland-born musician, composer and producer. Jóhann´s stately, slow-building and hauntingly melodic music, which frequently combines electronics with classical orchestrations, has been quietly bewitching listeners since he released his first solo record Englabörn in 2002 on the well respected British label Touch. The record was re-released in 2007 by 4AD, by which time its reputation had grown as an influential recording in the burgeoning field that has been variously called post-classical or neo-classical.
Chris Coco’s award winning weekly radio broadcast. An eclectic selection of brilliant new music starting with house and moving on to electronica, downtempo, acoustic and all sorts of other styles loosely connected to dance and electronic music. Let tastemaker Chris Coco guide you through his selection of the week’s best new music.
This Episode… is all about being playful, sounds that make you go – oh- what’s that – or what’s that about – or sounds that just make you smile. And there’s dancing, lots of dancing, to keep warm, and just for fun.
Brought to you by Arctic Circle Radio, the Circle takes you on a one-hour journey based on the most simple and significant of shapes. Every Circle is unique; formed from a guest curator’s musical landscape and they all share the same revolutionary quality: each one ends at the point where it began.
Edition 30 – Mix by Quite Clicky (David Hemingway)
Lighthouse Keepers haven’t always been well regarded. The first were considered to be interfering with the opportunity to plunder from ships that had been shattered upon rocks. Nevertheless, the ebbs and flows of the following mix are intended as a tribute (of sorts) to the profession, though in the UK at least they’ve long since been made redundant: when the final manned lighthouse at North Foreland, Kent was automated in 1998, it brought this honourable role to an end.
We’ve added a wide range of tracks and albums this week to help you chill – you can sample them here!
Bruno Sanfilippo – Unity
This is a beautifully resonant and haunting collection of piano and strings-based tracks, elegant and simple, moving and satisfying. We’re playing “Lux” the most, with others from the album across the day too.
Hollie Cook – Lunar Addiction
Cosmic reggae, if you can imagine such a thing. Think warm band grooves taken to cooler places on the back of wonderfully chilled electronic sweeps, it’s a space age wonder. Lots more to explore on the album too.
Submotion Orchestra – Kites / Prism
First fruits from the highly anticipated fifth album by one of our favourite bands. Beautifully layered textures of soul-infused sound, something to sink yourself into and chill. We’re playing “Kites” and “Prism” right now, and can’t wait to play more soon.
VO/D – Ache
Chill listener Melissa Moody brought this delicate yet epic track to our attention. It’s been around for a while but the band is preparing it, with some other beautiful tracks, for commercial release. Listen out for this one and more across the day and in our super-chilled 12-2am Midnight Chill mixes.
Youth & Nick Walker – Lotus Rhubarb (Colliding Sky Whale Dub)
The title alone was convincing enough to check this out, and the music didn’t disappoint.
